As 2024 ends, we sat down with Peter Schroder, CEO of Sea, to reflect on the company’s achievements and what’s on the horizon for 2025. From innovative product developments to strengthening ties within the maritime ecosystem, Sea has had a dynamic year. Here’s a look at Peter’s thoughts on the year we’ve had and 2025 ahead.

Looking back, what accomplishments stand out to you as defining moments for Sea this year?

This year has been pivotal for us at Sea. A defining moment was successfully migrating all our customers to the new Fixture Management solution. It’s a major step forward, providing a modern and scalable platform that allows us to continuously deliver value with each sprint cycle.

Our ongoing collaboration with RightShip has been crucial as well, integrating key vessel information directly into our Fixture Management solution to enhance decision-making within the workflow.

We also introduced our Vessel Compliance Management solution, helping clients navigate increasingly complex regulations with greater transparency and peace of mind.

Additionally, we completed the migration of the last MarDocs clients to our Recap Manager solution following the acquisition in 2023. This move underscores our commitment to streamlining the chartering process for the users of Recap Manager through one industry solution, enabling all the benefits for the industry of being one platform.

Each of these accomplishments has not only solidified our leadership in maritime pre-fixture software but also set the stage for an exciting 2025.

Beyond product, what other significant moments stood out for Sea this year?

“We’ve always believed that collaboration (which is one of our company values) is key to driving progress, and this year, our participation in events like Geneva Dry, Posidonia, Bahri Week, and the Global Freight Summit allowed us to exchange key insights on digital transformation in shipping.

A particular highlight was our CCO Christoffer Svärd speaking on a panel at Geneva Dry, where he discussed how digitisation is streamlining chartering workflows. We look forward to attending again next year.

Furthermore, we deepened our involvement with the Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Centre for Zero Carbon Shipping, contributing to their many influential reports with our intelligence products. This has been critical to our collective goals for sustainability, and they continue to leverage our platform on other important projects, helping to drive the decarbonisation of global maritime trade.

Lastly, we maintained our perfect ISO security compliance record, reaffirming our commitment to the highest security standards.

What advancements in Sea’s platform are you most excited about for the future?

As we look toward 2025, we’re excited about the continued evolution of our Fixture Management solution, expanding into new commodities and sectors.

We’re enhancing the integration between our Fixture and Contract Management solutions, further fulfilling the need for a seamless workflow for charterers, brokers and shipowners. It’s about removing friction, reducing risk, and empowering better decision-making with a unified, standardised workflow.

As the shipping industry increasingly focuses on sustainability, it’s imperative that Sea supports this transition. From emissions tracking to carbon offsetting, we’re exploring and developing tools to help our customers meet their environmental goals without compromising profitability.

We aim to connect every stage of the freight-fixing process, providing a unified platform that meets the demands of today’s market.”

Is there anything else you’d like to highlight about Sea’s progress this year or what’s coming in 2025?

“I also want to acknowledge our team’s tremendous effort and thank our loyal clients for their continued trust and collaboration this year. As we approach 2025, we are looking forward to advancing the intelligent marketplace for fixing freight and will continue to shape the digital future of our industry.”
